T-10 - Soviet heavy tank. It was mass-produced in 1954-1966. It was in service with the Soviet Army for 39 years, the last T-10s were withdrawn from service with the Russian Army only in 1993.

The T-10, being repeatedly modernized, was mass-produced from 1953 to 1966. In 1953-1962, the tank was produced in Chelyabinsk, and in 1957-1966 - in Leningrad. There are no exact data on the T-10 production figures, various sources refer to figures from 2500 to 8000 manufactured vehicles, however, according to modern data, a total of 1,439 tanks were produced. The overwhelming majority of the vehicles produced belonged to the T-10M modification, and in the 1960s all the T-10s that were in service with early modifications were upgraded to the T-10M.

T-10M was an improved version of the T-10, adopted on September 26, 1957, characterized by many design changes:

The new 122-mm M-62-T2 gun with high ballistics and a two-plane stabilizer 2E12 Rain. 14.5 mm KPVT machine guns instead of the DShK, with a reduction in ammunition to 744 rounds. The redesigned tower with reinforcement of its reservation, which reached 250 mm in the frontal part. New V-12-6 engine with 750 hp A set of night vision devices for all crew members except for the loader. Anti-nuclear protection. TDA. The mass of the tank after the changes increased to 51.5 tons, but thanks to a more powerful engine and other improvements, the maximum speed of the tank along the highway increased to 50 km / h. The T-10M was constantly upgraded during production. Since December 1962, a simpler and more reliable six-speed gearbox was installed on it, in 1963 the tank received an underwater driving system that allowed it to overcome obstacles up to 5 m deep, and since 1964 the tank was equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system.
